Sabotage; surely not in our company?
In general companies incorporate sabotage in their security policy or risk management. How would you respond to the following signals?
- computer network crash
- vital equipment out of order
- vandalism and graffiti
- damage
- break-ins and theft
- hindrance by employees
We recommend that you should at least examine these incidents and not treat them as if they happened to be coincidental or caused by rowdy teenagers. There might be an entirely different cause, such as a conscious and systematic attempt to destabilize the company process!
Now ask yourself what would be the consequences for the company process of the following:
- not being able to deliver products and raw material in time
- completion dates that may not be achieved
- visible damage
- damage to the company image
- stagnation
If you have even the slightest suspicion that you are the victim of sabotage, you should take immediate action! The following measures will prevent more (structural) damage from being done:
- List all the incidents that have occurred within the entire organisation (the facts speak for themselves).
- Act boldly and take specific measures to stop sabotage. It may be necessary to take measures with regard to the organisation, facilities and electronic equipment. In some cases it is necessary to modify measures in the course of the investigation.
- Appoint an intermediary whom employees can contact to report offenders or motives.
- Conduct an inquiry - together with our investigative department Hoffmann Investigations - into the identity of the person(s) who committed sabotage.
Are you overwhelmed by all the measures that you need to take? We shall be pleased to help you out!
