PCs Written-off as a Source of Industrial Espionage

Confidential Information 'in the Street'

There is a good market for second hand computers. Computers that are replaced by companies with newer and faster equipment, but also parties of computers that come onto the market from bankruptcies and reorganizations are sold like hot cakes on the second hand market.

It often turns out that these company computers still contain a lot of, sometimes confidential, information. In this circuit for example confidential minutes of the director's board, salary accounts and company plans for the future have been found. An excellent source for industrial espionage, you might say!

Most companies remove the information from the hard disk before the computers leave the company site. This no longer is sufficient, however! We the latest techniques it is relatively simple for computer experts to 'regain' this information that was removed'. With all related consequences for your organization.

Do you have to deal with confidential information on your PCs that are written off, then the definitive removal and destruction of these data is the most effective solution. There are also programmes that distort the data removed in such a way that they can hardly be regained. Less drastic, but therefore also less effective.

It may be interesting to know how things have been organized within your company!
