Internal theft/embezzlement investigations

In over 80 percent of our investigations, the suspects wanted to acquire money and/or goods. It almost goes without saying ? they want to make a quick profit and they can do it in two ways. Either with stolen goods (laptops, TFT screens, iPods) or with physical/digital money (cash, cash on delivery, seal-bag money, digital transfers to bank accounts they have created).
 
Once-off incidents
One very common crime is the once-off theft of cash ? for example, snatching money from the cash register, removing a seal-bag or carrying off a laptop. These types of investigations require a professional and thorough approach, precisely because they involve once-off incidents. To investigate the incident, we check the company’s internal records, both the financial administration and the attendance and visitor administration. But we also look at cash management. This generally solves the case.
 
Why outsource the investigation?
So is that all it takes? Not really. These types of incidents are often complicated by such things as the culture (what do we find acceptable?), the organisational structure (have processes and procedures been internally recorded and are they known?) and the emotions (how unpleasant and annoying it all is, both for colleagues and the suspected perpetrator). All reasons for calling in an external organisation like ourselves to conduct these types of investigations. Because then you can rely on a thorough and professional investigation, backed up with facts and circumstances, with the guarantee that the investigator’s report will be unbiased and will substantiate and confirm the results.
 
Repression and prevention
Points of focus on the preventative level are the extra service we provide during the repressive investigation. It works both ways, repressively towards the perpetrator, and preventatively throughout the organisation. That means the maximum effect for you.
