Structural Risk Control
After the conclusion of an investigation carried out by our Detective department most organizations just continue with the every day routine. After all, the investigation has cost quite a lot of money and energy. The perpetrators of the irregularities are no longer employed with the organization and the problems have therefore been solved. The organization can once again concentrate on the core business.
Or is this not true?
Aren't you kidding yourself? Is it not so that the irregularities could have taken place only because the risks had not been covered sufficiently? Won't there be another 'Paul' or 'Evelyn' who will discover the same holes in security?
The answer is not so difficult, really. There will always be employees who think differently about what's thine and mine. Who will inflict damage on your organization. Damage that not only comprises financial aspects. What do you think about damage to the image, a shift of culture within the organization, unmotivated employees. Employees who are no longer able to watch the irregularities and report themselves sick, or become indifferent and no longer care about anything, or even quit your organization.
