2010 EU What Works in Forensics and Digital Forensics and Incident Response Summit
On 14-15 April 2010 this SANS event is being held in London. Robert Jan Mora, Senior Forensic Investigator, and Bas Koet, Forensic Investigator at Hoffmann Investigations, will speak about Advanced File Carving.
File carving is a technique to recover deleted files from a storage medium based on the raw data, without requiring the use of file system metadata. This course covers file carving techniques ranging from the very basic "header-footer carving" technique to the much more complex techniques that have been developed in recent years. Another important part of the presentations is on measuring the quality of current forensic carving tools and techniques.
